Fry-Wagner is hosting our 7th Annual Wendy Knop Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 22nd at The Links at Dardenne in O’Fallon, Missouri. Every year Fry-Wagner selects a family battling a serious illness or who has recently lost a loved one to support them during a very difficult time. We do this in honor of Wendy Knop who was a Fry-Wagner employee who passed away suddenly of a rare form of cancer in 2010.
This year, Fry-Wagner will be celebrating Reese Werner. Reese Werner is a 4-year-old cancer patient battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia & Chemotherapy induced Cardiomyopathy. She was diagnosed on February 10, 2016, and she has spent the majority of her time this past year at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Last summer she stayed in the CICU for 3 months and finished up what they thought would be her last round of chemo, and she was sent home in remission. After being home for two months, she relapsed. Now back at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Reese has gone through three different rounds of chemotherapy and none of them worked. The cancer only got stronger.
At this point, Reese’s cancer does not respond to normal chemotherapy. She is currently waiting for her body to get strong enough for a bone marrow transplant. Although this process has been difficult, she has been in such great spirits – running, jumping, playing, and acting like a normal 4 year old little girl. Reese and her family are about to embark on another long journey, one that will hopefully keep Reese here a lot longer. This little girl is not ready to give up and stop fighting!
Our goal is to make this year’s tournament the best one yet! To make this endeavor successful for Reese, outside support is needed. We are asking for your help, and to join #TeamReese this year by considering the following:
