The Task
Fry-Wagner’s commercial movers were tasked with relocating equipment and furniture in three major buildings on a college campus in Southern Illinois, while the university completed renovations during summer break. The university has worked with Fry-Wagner over the last few years on various projects around campus, but this project was one of the largest projects our crews have tackled to date. Our crews were dedicated and showed great diligence with the time-sensitive task, to ensure that all the furniture in faculty departments and classrooms were cared for and relocated on time to its destination before classes resumed.
The Project
The University has been in the process of remodeling two major lecture halls, floor by floor. Fry-Wagner played a pivotal role in this process the last two summers by moving furniture into storage or to various buildings, in order to streamline and speed up the renovations.
Over the course of the summer, between 10 and 20 of our hardworking movers made their way to campus to assist with the relocation. Every morning they patiently awaited instruction from a campus representative and a project manager who directed them to work on various tasks that needed to be completed. Our crews were instructed to protect and move chairs, computers, filing cabinets, bookcases, whiteboards, conference tables, and artwork to and from various buildings. Some furniture items were put into storage on campus, while others are now housed in a different classroom or faculty department.
All relocation efforts for this summer were completed on August 23, 2019, just in time for the new school year to begin. The remodeling process is still ongoing and will resume next summer. Fry-Wagner’s commercial moving team did a wonderful job to ensure that all furniture was handled with care and relocated to the proper location so students and faculty can enjoy their newly remodeled surroundings this school year.
